What skills and capabilities do you need to develop to create the impact you want?
We need to pair outer development with inner development if we’re to meet the complex challenges of the 21st century and create sustainable organisations and societies.
Develop your personal capacity to overcome complex problems
When we fail to move forward with our strategy, be that working towards the 17 Sustainability Development Goals or implementing our organisation’s new strategy, it’s seldom due to a lack of plans, technology, or resources. The most likely barriers to success are our old ways of thinking, which make us repeat our old behaviours.
We still need strategies to tackle the complex and often intolerable problems of our time, but we also need to look at upgrading our internal operating system. By developing our personal capacity for complexity awareness, perspective taking, compassion and co-creation, we can start operating at a new level – as individuals and as organisations.
Mannaz and IDG
Mannaz is proud to be a partner of the Inner Development Goals (IDG) Alliance. The IDG began as a collaborative effort between businesses, academia and international leadership thought leaders in 2020.
The purpose has been to explore what personal leadership skills and capabilities are needed to succeed with the 17 Sustainability Development Goals, as well as the other complex challenges of our time.
Partner of the IDG Alliance
As IDG Alliance Partners, we are committed to collaborative efforts to accelerate the achievement of Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals, in general and specifically through the science and practices of human development.

5 categories of skills
An IDG initiative research project has defined 5 categories of skills that help people tackle and lead complex transformations.
The 5 categories don’t introduce an entirely new approach to personal development or leadership. Instead they create a comprehensive framework that shows how we need to develop cognitive, emotional and relational skills to succeed in working with complex challenges. So, the framework is intended to help organisations assess what capabilities they need to develop if they’re to have a greater impact.
At Mannaz, we integrate this thinking into how we design leadership development. Our portfolio of open enrolment courses offers possibilities to build skills in all 5 categories.
