People + AI = Outperformance

The most powerful use of AI is not automation. It is collaboration. Research consistently shows that when human judgment and AI capabilities are combined, performance improves because each compensates for the other's limitations. The organisations that thrive will be those that learn how to create value through the partnership between people and AI.

Much of the public debate about AI focuses on replacement: Will AI take over jobs, tasks and decisions? A more interesting question is what happens when humans and AI work together.

Research increasingly suggests that the highest levels of performance are achieved not by humans alone or AI alone, but through effective collaboration between the two.

The future of work is not Human vs. AI. It is Human + AI.

Better questions create better results

Working with generative AI is less about giving instructions and more about creating a productive dialogue.

Just as great leaders, coaches and consultants know that the quality of the answer depends on the quality of the question, the same applies when working with AI.

Better prompts lead to better outcomes.

Getting the prompt right:

  1. Purpose: What do you want to achieve? Inspire, persuade, inform, or explain?
  2. Sender: What role should the AI have? HR expert, real estate agent, coach?
  3. Recipient: Who is the content intended for? The more specific you are, the more relevant the answer will be.
  4. Context: Where will the answer be used? Email, report, meeting, or presentation?
  5. Length: How long should the answer be? A brief message or a detailed text?
  6. Tone: Do you want a formal, empathetic, or business-oriented answer? Specify!

The more detailed you are, the better.

Move beyond the first answer

The greatest value is rarely found in the first response. High-performing AI users challenge assumptions, ask follow-up questions and invite alternative perspectives.

They use AI as a thinking partner—not simply as a content generator.

This creates better decisions, deeper learning and stronger outcomes.

Leadership enables human-AI collaboration

Successful AI adoption is not primarily about technology.

It is about helping people develop the confidence, judgement and capabilities needed to work effectively with AI.

Research and practical experience suggest that the greatest barriers are rarely technical. They are cultural.

Organisations succeed when leaders encourage experimentation, invest in learning and create environments where people feel safe exploring new ways of working.

Technology creates possibilities. People create value.

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into everyday work, the organisations that outperform will not necessarily be those with the most advanced technology.

They will be the ones that best combine human judgment, creativity and experience with the capabilities of AI.

The future belongs neither to humans nor to machines alone. It belongs to those who learn how to bring out the best in both.

Because AI is at its most powerful when it enhances human potential—not when it replaces it.

Leadership in practice - create engagement and innovation

AI will not transform organisations on its own.

Sustainable transformation happens when technology, leadership and human capability evolve together.

The leaders who succeed will not simply implement new tools. They will build organisations that are curious enough to explore, skilled enough to adapt and courageous enough to change.

Because in the age of AI, leadership remains the most important technology of all.
