Project management & Agile practices

Project management strengthens the green transition in the supply industry

Case

8Heidi Bergenhammer, Head of HR & Marketing, Vestforsyning

”The requirements for our project management have never been greater, and all levels of the organisation have been involved in developing our project culture. The ambition is to develop a shared language and strengthen the collaboration between different units. The goal has, among other things, been to develop a systematic approach to improve our ability to reach project goals; while also improving reporting systems so we can intervene in time when projects deviate from expectations.

“I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that we used to have 50 project documents and templates. Now we have one model across the entire organisation – and it defines what project management means to us.”
Heidi Bergenhammer, Head of HR & Marketing, Vestforsyning

The collaboration with Mannaz was developed as a combination of a competence development project and a cultural change initiative. Relying on the involvement of the organisation as a whole, we jointly developed a tailored and customised project model to standardise and structure the approach to project work across the organisation. All levels were included. We have obtained a shared language across the organisation. That is a big deal for us. Now everyone knows what things are called and what they mean. That has created a shared understanding and a unified project model.

All the way through the process, we felt well-supported, listened to, and experienced a very attentive, constructive, and responsive partner. We can clearly feel that after the collaboration with Mannaz, the organisation is now stronger and more resilient in project work. The most important takeaway is that we now have a permanent steering group across the company that continues to develop and adapt our new project model and tools. It has truly transformed our shared project culture. At the same time, we see clear enthusiasm and energy among project managers to elevate our project culture even further and embrace the project model.”

Green transition challenges the utility sector. Vestforsyning is a multi-utility company, and their main tasks are electricity, water and heat supply and wastewater treatment. They have committed to reducing CO₂ emissions and engaging in partnerships for renewable energy. This increases the complexity of their project management, and therefore Mannaz and Vestforsyning began a collaboration in May 2024.

Project management & Agile practices The future is manageable. One project at a time

Success can occur by pure chance. But more often, it is the direct result of cultivating your organisation’s potential through fact-based, dedicated project management, planning, timely follow-up throughout the process and a team striving for the same goal and purpose. However, there is no manual for applying due diligence and innovation in exactly the right way at exactly the right time. Good project management is, however, a good beginning.
