Positive Stress Management
– Inner strength, outer calm
|
This course gives you an insight into positive stress management to help you fight off the overload in your daily life, both professionally and personally. The course will give you a number of action strategies that strengthen your experience of commitment, well-being, health and job satisfaction. After the course, you will know how to use stress in a positive way and where your boundaries are, and you will see that your efficiency and ability to perform will improve. At the same time, you will get tools to prevent stress at your workplace. |
Why do you get stressed – and is stress only negative?
We often get stressed because of challenges or merely at the thought of challenges where we are unable to control the entire process ourselves. Some of us tend to stress ourselves – and perhaps others – out, unnecessarily, when we are not in control. Therefore, how do you get ready to conquer a new day without stress? And how do you stay happy in your job?
Stress is a two-edged sword: the positive side of stress provides drive and dynamism, enabling you to yield a greater effort in demanding circumstances. The negative side of stress, however, can be the stage prior to burnout and be decidedly dangerous to your health. You may have experienced symptoms of negative stress already in the form of chest pain, sleeping disorders, etc.
The earlier you identify and actively tackle stress, the better your chances of minimising the negative impact and of handling demanding tasks more effectively. Hence this course also has a highly preventive effect.
Participants
Participants are both leaders and employees who are finding that the pressure of work and time pressure have become a burden on a daily basis – they would like to find methods for breaking free of the negative stress that is damaging to their health and affecting their effectiveness and job satisfaction. Participants have often felt the early signs of stress and wish to make an effort to become aware of preventing stress in the future.
Benefit
The course will give you a number of methods that can be applied in practice to handle your excessive work pressure effectively and constructively. The methods will not only benefit you but will also, to a great extent, offer your colleagues and your manager inspiration, so that the entire department can share in your benefit from the course.
You will learn to:
- Perceive the typical danger signals for stress
- Avoid stressing yourself – and others – out
- “Recharge” mentally
- Tackle demanding work situations
- Use various methods to distinguish between serious and harmless stress signals and to devise constructive, targeted action strategies
In addition, you will be given or learn:
- A personal stress test in the form of a questionnaire that shows your own stress level. You complete the test yourself and it is for personal use only!
- Techniques for making use of the positive aspect of stress, so that your effectiveness, desire to perform and perspective are increased in your daily work
- Help to strengthen your ability to tackle demanding work situations
- Methods for planning constructive, targeted action strategies
- Methods for “mentally recharging”, which gives you energy in your stressful everyday life
- Physical and psychological de-stressing techniques
Your company will gain:
- A “stress ambassador” who will inspire the entire company
- An employee who avoids stressing him or herself and others out and who therefore makes better contributions to the effective solving of tasks
Course content
The course will give you insight into:
- An occupational-psychological explanatory model of the psychological working environment, i.e. the interaction between the job’s content and demands and our personal characteristics and resources
- Positive stress management from a scientific point of view
- How to prevent stress. Which behavioural changes you need to pay attention to in yourself and your colleagues
- How you can contribute to influencing the psychological working environment in a positive manner, so that it will benefit the company, your manager, your colleagues and yourself
- How physical and mental techniques can strengthen your personal resources, so that you will get more energy to handle a large amount of work and time pressure
- How you can learn to put your foot down with regard to your own “inner tyrant” and how you can learn to stop being Mr. Nice Guy
| You will subsequently feel the effect of the course when you use your new tools and methods actively and constructively to change the conditions and circumstances that cause your stress. |
