What does NLP mean?
|
Course content
This course will teach you how your brain works and how it automatically processes all your sensory perceptions. You will become aware of why your own reactions to your surroundings can happen almost automatically and “entirely without influence”. You will learn to see which emotional and thought models are behind your own habits, reactions and action patterns as well as those of others.
Emotional and thought models consist of your values, attitudes, assumptions, expectations and convictions. They work as a sort of autopilot for the way you perceive reality and how it is coded and stored in your brain. Quite often, the autopilot also determines how you relate to others on a daily basis. The question is: are you happy with the results of the work of your autopilot?
You will work on:
- Creating a user manual for your own mind
- Uncovering your personality and your resources
- Playing more of a role and accommodating more at the same time
- Using your potential and creating your own future
- Leading and motivating yourself
Situations that you have tried but would like to avoid in the future:
- That certain people completely drain you of energy and that you don’t put your foot down.
- That some people trigger you so that you overreact and regret it later on.
- That you put off tasks indefinitely and are irritated that you never get started.
- That you don’t intervene or put your foot down in order to avoid conflict and then regret that you stood idly by.
- That certain people can irritate you, merely by being present or acting in a certain way.
- That you overstep your own boundaries and take on too much in order to be recognised.
- That your message is not getting through and you feel overlooked or ignored.
Our thoughts decide the way we perceive ourselves and others. The question is: what are your thoughts, and are your thoughts beneficial for you, your career and your success in life? Or do you tend to think the same thoughts again and again – sort of like mental recycling?
Are you autonomous? A good coach can help you think in new ways so that you become aware of how you can develop and get much more out of your potential. Perhaps you would like to be autonomous?
Learning method
The course supports the participants in getting to know themselves. By means of facilitator presentations, plenary discussions and various exercises, you will be challenged to become familiar with various layers of your personality. At the same time, you will get tools for developing in the direction that you envisioned or wanted. The course contains lots of material, from a preparatory assignment, comprehensive manual and exercise book to colleague training over the telephone. Your entire view of the world will be challenged, but in a gentle, considerate and humorous way. Everyone will leave the course with an “expanded” mind.
Course duration
The course takes place over two modules.
Module one is three days long
This module teaches you how to use your brain when you think and how you can influence what goes on in your brain and your thoughts. Towards the end of Part 1, each participant devises their own realistic training plan. Each participant is assigned a coach, who is him or herself the client of another coach. Each coach-client relationship then agrees on a minimum of three 30-minute coaching sessions via telephone. These coaching sessions must take place between Parts 1 and 2. The dialogues could be about how the client realises his or her training plan. You will take home a CD so that you can be coached through various mental NLP techniques from the course. Your course binder can also be used between Parts 1 and 2, as it contains many pages of text for easy reading and an exercise book from which you can get inspiration for integrating the things you have learned from Part 1.
Module two is two days long
On this module, we get to the core of your thought processes and look at how your values motivate your decisions and control your actions, and how your attitude becomes your life’s script for better or worse. The participants coach each other when they each explore their own map of the emotion and thought model. You will then be coached on how to create new maps for yourself. We recommend that the coach-client relationship continues after Part 2, as this will ensure that the benefit from the course will continue to grow.
Self-coaching
Self-coaching with NLP is indeed about how to coach yourself and how you can challenge your own trains of thought, be more creative, collaborate better with yourself and others, and create the career that you
want. NLP delivers a good framework for understanding how the “computer between your ears” works and how it can be upgraded.
Self-coaching – how?
You will learn how to optimise your communication with yourself. This has a significant effect on how you feel about yourself and how you get along with others around you. We like to believe that our collaboration with others would be better if they would only recognise their faults and change. However, this is rarely the case in reality. It is usually much more effective to change the way you relate to the world. Our own thoughts are very determining and decisive for how we perceive the world and which resources we have at our disposal. And your thoughts are a result of how you coach yourself.
Self-coaching with NLP will make you more aware of yourself. When you coach yourself, you lead and follow your own thought processes. Thereby, you optimise your collaboration with yourself and will be more self-contained. The quality of your thought processes determines whether you are well balanced or stressed and in conflict with yourself and others. Self-coaching means that you continuously revise your thought and action strategies and ensure that these are updated and relevant here and now and work effectively in your everyday life.
| This will teach you how to be a responsible leader both of yourself and in your life. |
