Communication and dialogue

Dialogue and cooperation

 

 

This course teaches you how to communicate with others – and, to a great extent, the way you do it! Your dialogue will become attentive, you will train yourself in communicating and you will get a better insight into your own communicational skills. It is an intensive three-day course with two facilitators.

 

 

Who determines the message in what is said?

When you communicate well with others, you don’t think about it. It feels easy and effortless and you get the information you need. But what is it that you really do in those situations that makes it work?

 

Communicational training is about doing what you are already doing - in an even better way. Any communication can hit a hitch or it can surprise or irritate you, if others misinterpret what you are saying. BUT – the recipient determines the message. This is why it is so important that you, the sender, makes sure that both parties of the communication are on the same wavelength.

 

Participants

The course is for those who wish to gain a clarity and an understanding of their own communication. You know that your communication is not always perceived the way you want it to, but you may not know exactly what is wrong. On the course you will practice various situations from your everyday life and receive feedback on your communicational style.

 

You want to become better at holding on to your messages and giving them greater emphasis, so that you obtain a greater assertiveness in your daily communication.

 

Regardless of your professional background, your area of responsibility and your organizational position, you will benefit from the course. This also means that you will meet a great variety of people with very different backgrounds on the course and this contributes to giving you a greater understanding and tolerance for others – also after the course.

 

The facilitators, on what challenges bring the participants onto the course:
”They have difficulty in getting their message(s) through on the job, their focus is professional and thus far, they have overlooked the importance of being able to communicate a message that the receiver can understand. They are not aware of how their communication affects others and they find it difficult to small-talk and thus often miss out on opportunities to network. They have personal challenges with co-workers, etc.”.

 

 

Benefit

The course develops and improves your ability to communicate with others. After the course, you will be better at

The facilitators, on what the participants can expect to bring home:
A specific, lasting behavioural change as a ‘solution’ to their problem area (we don’t solve people’s problems – we dissolve them), specific tools for more qualified personal development reviews, models/tools for giving co-workers constructive feedback, insight into their own behaviour and an opportunity for new habits, tools for getting a message through, so that the receiver understands it”.

 

 

 

Course content and form

Focus on your communication

Throughout the course you will be working on developing your communicational skills and your comprehension of the relationship between content and process in a communication process. In addition, you will gain knowledge of essential communication strategies and their importance for the daily communication.

 

From theory to practice

The course has a close interaction between theory and practice. Together, we take off in the “theoretical helicopter” in order to understand some of the communication-related dilemmas that we experience in our everyday lives. We then test out the theories in practice and focus on using what was learned. Later, we reflect on “How to use these new realizations professionally and personally”.

 

The facilitators, state: ”We will alternate between demos, exercises, fun contributions, walk & talk, team working, etc. and we are two facilitators, one of each gender. We constantly focus on involving the participants as we know that you learn by doing”.

 

Group work

You will be working in groups, which will help establish a high level of trust and intensity. You will be using the group as a reflective team. You will conduct exercises within the group, which will thereby function as a support and give you feedback on your language, your body language, your tone of voice and your facial expressions.

 

Personal coaching!
You will receive individual coaching by the facilitators, based on a specific problem area of your choice.

The coaching session will be recorded on DVD upon your request, thus giving you an opportunity to quietly watch the session and brush up on the coaching after the course.

 

Facilitators

You will meet two of the following three facilitators, who all have a solid foundation within communication and personal development: Business Psychology Consultant C.C. Larsen, Consultant Mette Steenfeldt or Master of Psychology Jan Holst Jørgensen.
