Real life leadership lab (R3L)

Framework
In the Real Life Leadership Lab, you will be working as part of a group in an interpersonal leadership situation that is chosen by you, because this particular situation constitutes a real personal challenge. The chosen situation is re-lived in a short role play after which you will receive constructive feedback from the group and the business psychologist.

The business psychologist directs the process in such a way that the intensity level for you and the group as a whole remains constructive and challenging for all.

The challenges chosen by the group usually cover a range of typical leadership dilemmas, which means that the group members obtain a broad learning, based on the experiences of others through the various role plays. Moreover, the individual group member will obtain an appreciation of the fact that many of our challenges are not unique, but universal.

The dynamics - why is this simple framework so effective?

  • An opportunity to reconstruct your understanding of a given challenging personal or leadership situation, test new approaches, and experience how you could master the situation.
  • You will learn which emotions and reactions your behavior triggers in others through multimodal feedback in a relevant and meaningful situation, and how you can change these perceptions.
  • Appreciating the impact of behavior, how it influences your self- perception. Based on the dynamics and the information derived from the above, you will be able to formulate realistic insights, assessments of your own worth and integrity that enable you to change yourself in a beneficial way, and revise your self-perception in relation to your interaction with others.

From change to transformation
Processes like these can work as a catalyst for lasting personal change, because the experiences influence the way in which you relate to others. Sometimes the processes are so intense that irreversible change occurs, and you can no longer return to your old behavioral patterns. This is possible because the development processes applied take their point of departure in your reality and contain the element of "learning by doing", which usually promotes a successful and superior experience that reinforces and consolidates new learning.
