Project Management Institute (PMI) is an American non-profit organisation devoted to promoting the discipline of project management globally. PMI’s mission is to generate and promote excellence within the project management field and throughout the world’s professional communities.
PMI has long been acknowledged as a pioneer in the field of project management and the membership reflects this with now over 140,000 members representing 125 countries. PMI professionals come from virtually every major industry including, aerospace, automotive, business management, construction, engineering, financial services, information technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and telecommunications.
PMI offers two certifications:
For both certifications the candidate needs to send an application to PMI in order to be eligible to sit for the certification exam. Please contact Mannaz for further information regarding the application.
The exam is a multiple-choice exam – 200 questions and four hours for PMP and 150 questions and three hours for CAPM.
The PMP certification is valid for three years during which the project manager is supposed to collect points in order to be re-certified. These points can be obtained by attending seminars, writing articles or being a project manager.
Further information can be found at PMI’s homepage www.pmi.org.
